Ernie Haase & Signature Sound

Multi-GRAMMY® nominated quartet Ernie Haase & Signature Sound has embarked on the Decades of Love Tour in support of their recently released 29-song, 2-CD recording.

The brand-new show features a two-hour, two-act musical revue. From the Beatles to the Bee Gees to Bublé, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound serenades audiences of all ages with their smooth-as-silk stylings. The group utilizes intricate harmonies, lush arrangements and consistently solid solo vocals to breathe new life into some of the most loved romantic songs from the past 100 years.

Decades of Love debuted strong earning a Top 10 spot on the iTunes Pop chart the day of its release. Their physical CD sales and digital streaming numbers reveal that fans have whole-heartedly embraced this album from a traditionally Southern Gospel quartet proving, once again, that the language of music is universal.

Decades of Love follows the release of Ernie Haase & Signature Sound's Keeping On, which received a GRAMMY® nomination for Best Roots Gospel album and two 2022 GMA Dove® Award nominations. This marked Haase's ninth GRAMMY® nomination individually and the group's fourth collective nomination. Ernie Haase & Signature Sound is also a GMA Dove® Award winner winner (most recently, 2022 Southern Gospel Album of the Year and 2021 Southern Gospel Artist of the Year), a radio favorite in the United States and internationally and a leader in CD sales and long-form music video sales with several RIAA®-certified Gold and Platinum DVDs.

An Evening with Mark Twain presented by Lewis Hankins

An Evening with Mark Twain presented by Lewis Hankins is a tribute to both Mark Twain and Hal Holbrook. Lewis has been performing as a Riverlorian, or River Historian on the Delta Queen Steamboat Company and American Queen Voyages for over 25 years. His depiction of Mark Twain, with his mass of white hair and bushy mustache, will have the audience captivated as they get a glimpse of what it would have been like to have a conversation with this American icon. In fact, part of the show will include Mr. Hankins fielding questions from the audience, as only Mark Twain could respond.

ABOUT CHRISTMAS AT THE DIXIE

This new and updated twist to an old classic, Christmas on Broadway,  is now titled Christmas at The Dixie and will feature Paula Bridges, Miss Tennessee 2022, Miss Tennessee’s Outstanding Teen, and other special guests. This year The Dixie is searching for the most talented performers in our local and regional area to make this one of the best ways to celebrate the holidays! Sheila Mitchell-Hart from Birdsong School of Music will be the music director and the house music will be provided by the praise team of Benton County’s Missionary Grove Baptist Church. This performance will be filmed and broadcast by our friends at West TN PBS station so performers and audience members must agree to be recorded.

Those interested in performing will need to audition. Auditions are scheduled for:

  • Adults: Thursday, August 11, from 7-9 pm

  • Children, ages 6-10 (and adults who could not make Thursday): Saturday, August 27, from 9-11 am

Those who wish to audition for a singing role should be 18 years or older with some professional experience and should bring a digital file of their music loaded onto their mobile device and ready to plug in. Though the show theme is Christmas, all performances need not be Christmas themed and are expected to include many genres of music and drama. The Dixie welcomes singers, dancers, musicians, actors, comedians, choirs, and others in the performing arts to audition.

There is a specific need for a few children ages 6-10 years old to perform in a pre-recorded Christmas skit with adults who are "young at heart" to act out a scene on stage. To perform in this skit, attendance is required at one of the auditions to meet with directors with no preparation necessary. All chosen performers will be notified on or before September 1, 2022, with a rehearsal schedule to follow.

Tickets are $15 for Balcony and $20 for Orchestra, plus fees, and will go on sale in August. For additional information, visit DixiePAC.net or call The Dixie’s Box Office at 731.986.2100, Monday through Friday, 10-4 pm.

Adapted by Michael McGill
Music and Lyrics by Michael McGill

Over the river and through the woods to Grandmother’s house she goes.  Red Riding Hood, not so little anymore, and her pre-teen pals try to stay on the straight and narrow in the latest adventure from the Missoula Children's Theatre, RED RIDING HOOD.  The Big Bad Wolf, who is not so bad after all, and a friendly neighborhood Forest Ranger urge our heroes to stay true to the path, for in the Shadows lurk diversions and a sinister surprise or two.  A pack of woefully nasty young wolves and a handsome Woodsman, too good to be true, are a must for our story.  And we can’t have a wolf tale without Three Little Pigs and even a Boy Who Cries…you guessed it.  With help from her family and a loyal young Locksmith (he carries the key), Red finds her Grandma and a whole lot more.  Now if only she could retrieve her picnic basket from those rascally Raccoons.  Life is no picnic when you stray from the trail!

THE 129TH ARMY BAND

Tickets are free and are available by calling The Dixie’s Box Office at 731.986.2100, M-F, 10-4p.

The 129 Army Band traces its lineage back to the earliest units of the Tennessee Militia that protected the early colonial settlements and routed the British at the Battle of Kings Mountain on October 7, 1780. Their predecessors supported the Third Tennessee Infantry Regiment during the Mexican War (1846-1848), the Spanish-American War (1898-1900), and the Mexican Border Campaign of 1916. Redesignated as the 117 Infantry Regiment Band, they were activated in 1917 as part of the 30 Infantry Division. The 30 ID served in WWI with the American Expeditionary Force during the battles of Somme, Le Selle, Ypres, Saint-Mihiel, and in the Meuse-Argonne. After WWI, the 30 ID was deactivated and resumed their roles in the National Guards of their respective states. The 30 Infantry Division was reactivated in September 1940 with the onset of WWII. On June 10, 1944, troops from Tennessee, Pennsylvania, North and South Carolina, and Georgia were deployed as a replacement division to compensate for the losses suffered by the 29 ID during the D-Day invasion and were committed almost immediately against the German Army. The 30 ID distinguished itself during the French campaign by spearheading Operation Cobra, opening the way for Patton’s Third Army to drive into Brittany. It was during this campaign that the 30 ID earned the name “Roosevelt’s SS” by the German High Command, due to their constant pressure on the German 1 SS Division. The 30 was also an integral part of stopping the 1 SS’s drive through the Ardennes in the Battle of the Bulge, extracting so many casualties on the elite 1 SS Division that they were no longer able to do battle. The 30 ID was deactivated November 25, 1945, at Camp Jackson, NC.

After deactivation, the individual units of the 30 ID returned to their states. Troops from Tennessee formed the 30 Armored Division where they served proudly from 1945 to 1973. When the 30 AD was disbanded, many units were formed under 30th Troop Command including the 129 Army Band.

Since its inception, the 129 Army Band has represented the state of Tennessee and the Tennessee Army National Guard proudly. From playing at two World’s Fairs to marching in a Presidential Inaugural Parade, the 129 Army Band has been called on to perform countless times across the globe. On two occasions they played for the US Ambassador of Columbia, South America. Additionally, they performed in Izmir, Turkey, in support of NATO and have relieved numerous active duty bands at such places as Ft. Monroe, Virginia, the United States Military Academy at West Point, and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. In addition, the 129 Army Band was one of two reserve bands called to active duty in support of Operation Desert Storm.

The 129 Army Band’s most rewarding job, however, is supporting the troops and families of the Tennessee National Guard. Without question, the 129th has established itself as a premier National Guard Band and will continue to perform at the highest level of professionalism every time they are called upon to represent the state of Tennessee and the United States of America.

Learn more about these GREAT BANDS!

BLAZIN' BLAIR & SKYLAR SAGE
This simple yet powerful duo has several years of experience between the both of them, and you can expect emotion through and through. It's an acoustic guitar, drums, and vocal show that they hope will bring you an endearing musical experience. Together, they are Blazin' Sage with love.

ANNA AND JON EATON
Based in McKenzie, TN, this Americana/rock/country duo puts their own twist on everything they perform. You will hear their take on everything from the Beatles to what is on the radio today.

LEVON
“You have no idea who we are, but we’re about to be great friends.” And with that inviting proclamation, Levon’s Michael David Hall has opened many a performance. Making friends through the music is part of what it’s all about for this soulful trio, whose cross-generational sonic appeal draws from past and present, with a harmony-driven style built around compelling lyrics and memorable melodies: music with a timeless quality.

Levon consists of three best friends: Northbrook, Illinois, native Michael David Hall (on guitar and lead vocals, with a soaring five-octave range); Sumter, South Carolina’s Jake Singleton (on harmonies, bass, and percussion); and Camden, Tennessee, native Ryan Holladay (on guitar, mandolin and harmonies).

A few of the trio’s musical roots are suggested by their name, an homage to the talents of The Band’s Levon Helm, as well as Elton John and his song, “Levon.” All in their twenties, Levon’s members nonetheless share a collective musical passion for the 1970s and the artist/songwriter generation whose lyrics and melodies have remained relevant long after their time on the charts.“We wanted people to hear our name and kind of know where we were coming from,” Hall says. "
