But getting used to the whole new group of friends, a new teacher, and new glasses is challenging, even for irrepressible Junie B. Follow her adventures as she writes everything down in her "top-secret personal beeswax" journal. A new musical based on the books by Barbara Park.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow tells the story of Tarry Town, a place where strange things happen and the townsfolk seem entranced by spirits. No fall is complete without the fun of telling favorite stories and Washington Irving’s The Legend of Sleepy Hollow has been at the top of the list for almost 200 years! Thrill and perhaps chill your audiences (though it’s not too scary for little ones) with Theatre IV’s lively musical retelling of this masterful story.
 


 
Swimmy, Frederick & Inch by Inch  Pre-K-2nd

Swimmy is a tiny insignificant fish in the vast ocean that uses ingenuity to fend off danger. Frederick, a mouse who is a poet from the tip of his nose to the end of his tail, makes everyday life an artful experience. The story of Inch by Inch features a lovable inchworm that is very proud of his facility for measuring absolutely everything, including a robin's tail, a flamingo's neck, a toucan's beak, a heron's legs, and a nightingale's song. All these creatures provide wonderful scope for translation to puppet theatre through the gentle storytelling style which has brought international acclaim to Mermaid Theatre.

Join Professor Pruvitt and Crash as they demystify the fundamental Laws of Motion by demonstrating the role of physics in our everyday lives. With a little help from Sir Isaac Newton, our Mad Scientists perform wacky experiments to investigate the principles of inertia, acceleration, actions and reactions. The interactive experiments and hilarious antics in Newton’s Revenge are guaranteed to cause a big commotion about the science of motion!
 


  
The Chestnut Brass Quintet: Meet the Brass  3-5th   
Philadelphia, PA    
     Wednesday, December 5, 2007 - 9 a.m. & 11 a.m.

This presentation introduces young children to modern brass instruments. Students have an opportunity to hear each instrument played for them individually and to ask questions after each short segment. Following the introduction of each modern brass instrument, they hear all of the instruments played together in an ensemble and see and hear how the players interact with each other. Preceding this presentation, teachers are encouraged to have the children make their own instruments by bringing in things that they can find at home. This program is closely tied in with the Activities section found at the end of the educational materials. The exercise is not difficult for either teachers or students. It is a wonderful activity which will foster questions to be asked when the Chestnut Brass arrives to speak with the students.

What young Billy wants most in the world is a couple of coon hounds all his own, and when he saves up the money for them, the adventures begin. Join Ol’ Dan, Li’l Ann and Billy as they outrun every hound and coon in the Ozark’s river bottoms and learn about the power of true devotion along the way.
 


 
Edgar Allan Poe: Master of the Macabre  9-12th

This superb collection of tales is a performance of eerie intensity and spectacular staging guaranteed to chill and thrill!
 


 
The Fisk Jubilee Singers: Singing Our Song  K-12th     
Presented by Tennessee Arts Commission    
     Friday, February 1, 2008 - 10:00 a.m.

This free school-time performance will provide Tennessee students better opportunities to learn about Negro spirituals and The Fisk Jubilee Singers’ important tradition and artistic excellence.

The Fisk Jubilee Singers are young men and women, vocal artists and students of Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee who sing and travel worldwide. The original Jubilee Singers introduced ‘slave songs’ to the world in 1871 and were instrumental in preserving this unique American musical tradition known today as Negro spirituals. They broke racial barriers in the US and abroad in the late 19th century and entertained Kings and Queens in Europe. At the same time they raised money in support of their beloved school.
 



My Heart is in a Suitcase  3-8th

Anne Lehmann and her family no longer feel safe in their Berlin home. Life in Germany is deteriorating quickly; in order to protect their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lehmann may have to say goodbye to her forever. Now Anne must struggle to bring meaning out of despair, to cling to love and hope even in a world that seems to be filled with hatred and violence. The result is a gripping and poignant production, a tribute to the strength of the human spirit. ArtsPower hopes to touch the hearts and minds of old and young alike by adapting a survivor’s story, to inspire audiences to read and learn more about the Holocaust by weaving an emotional bond through art.

Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar follows the epic story of the rise and fall of one of the world’s most notorious leaders. Set in a world of political intrigue and strained domestic relationships, the production explores the moral and political dilemma of Marcus Brutus. Aquila’s production asks the audience to consider the price of democracy and freedom and the consequences that can befall a society when it is asked to defend its core beliefs. Julius Caesar will be staged using Aquila’s renowned company aesthetic – excellent acting, crystalline verse-speaking, original music and innovative conceptualization and design. Students and teachers will enjoy an overview of the play featuring the major monologues tied together with narration.

Ever wonder what it's like for kids who've lived at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue? In this special project with the White House Historical Association, the Kennedy Center stages an exciting new musical inspired by President Theodore Roosevelt and his family! In 1905, young Kermit, Ethel, and Archie Roosevelt stumble upon a real-life treasure map hidden in their library's copy of Treasure Island. Following clue after clue, the threesome untangles a decades-old mystery that leads them all over the White House, from the Red Room to the President's Office. Just in time for President’s Day!
 


 
The Princely Players: In Memory of MLK Jr. 6-12th

The centuries-old struggle for freedom by Africans in America, culminating in the civil rights movement and continuing even today, stands as a shining example of the power and dignity of the human spirit. Songs of hope and the quest for freedom are found in the struggle to survive difficult and de-humanizing traumas and were the galvanizing force in the struggles against impossible odds. The Princely Players have been featured on National Public Radio and the BBC and have been heard on the Smithsonian’s Wade in the Water series and the Time-Life Civil War recordings. Join in a celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy. The 40th anniversary of his death is April 4, 2008.

Join Huckleberry, Tom, Jim, Becky Thatcher, Aunt Polly and all the residents and rapscallions of Hannibal, MO as they explore the majestic river that defined their lives, tested their souls, and carried their spirit into the heart of America.

Emily Arrow can do plenty of things well when she has Uni – her toy unicorn – to bring her good luck. Emily learns a few things about honesty and growing up. Addressing serious issues with a winningly light touch, this story sparkles with lively wit.
